Our Priorities

for the Kearny Board of Education

  • Transparency & Accountability

Real accountability starts at the top. We need true transparency from the Board of Education so families, educators, and taxpayers are never left in the dark about board decisions, district goals, policy changes, and budgets. By clearly communicating not just the actions being taken, but the reasoning and fiscal priorities behind them, we can foster community trust and ensure every tax dollar directly serves our students.

  • Responsible Use of Taxpayer Dollars

Fiscal responsibility at the Board level is about protecting our community’s future. Every tax dollar should be carefully reviewed to guarantee it’s necessary and serving our students. When extra expenses aren’t justified, we have a duty to hold the line. Protecting taxpayers, including lower-income households, working parents, and seniors, ensures Kearny remains a town where families of all backgrounds can thrive without being priced out.

  • Mental Health & Student Wellness

Mental health shouldn’t be an afterthought; it’s the foundation for everything that happens in the classroom. We need to ensure students have real access to counselors, support systems, and early intervention the moment they start struggling. When kids feel safe, heard, and supported, they can actually focus on being students and succeeding in school.

  • Support for Students, Teachers, & Staff

We are committed to ensuring every single student, teacher, and staff member gets the backing they need to succeed. That means speaking up for stronger services across the board; whether a student needs extra hands-on intervention, support for behavioral or health needs, or greater academic challenges to keep them engaged. At the same time, we need to actually listen to what teachers and school staff are telling us about their everyday classroom reality, and make sure we’re getting them the tools, resources, and support they need to do their best work.

  • Increase Parent & Family Engagement

Parents should always be treated as partners in their children’s education. We need to make sure families are heard, informed, and welcomed in our schools. That starts with clear, open communication from the Board and creating meaningful opportunities for parents to be involved in the school community. When parents, schools, and local Parent Teacher Organizations work together, our kids win.
